Biography
I am Siddharth Biswas, a composer, performer and PhD researcher in Creative Music Practice at the University of Edinburgh.
My work explores music as an embodied and shared experience. Drawing on piano, sitar, beatboxing, Indian classical music and creative technology, I create systems in which gesture, movement, EEG and audience participation become part of the compositional process.
A hand might reshape a harmony, a dancer might reorganise a space of sound, or an audience might collectively influence a performance through their phones. Through my PhD research, I investigate how musical agency can be distributed between performers, audiences, instruments and interactive systems.
Alongside this research, I compose, perform, teach and collaborate across music, dance and technology.
“What does an instrument become when it is distributed across multiple bodies?”
